How to reconstitute Epithalon
- Reconstitute the lyophilized powder with bacteriostatic water, added slowly down the vial wall.
- Swirl gently to dissolve; avoid shaking or vortexing the vial.
- Keep the reconstituted solution refrigerated at 2-8°C and use within 14-30 days.
- Store unopened powder refrigerated or frozen, protected from light and moisture.
Frequently asked questions
Is Epithalon FDA-approved?+
No. Epithalon (Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly, AEDG) has no FDA approval for any indication and no published randomized controlled trials. Reviews consistently note that investigational peptides in this class lack long-term safety data and systematic clinical validation. The strongest published evidence is telomerase activation in human cell lines and small human biomarker studies; regulatory filings do not exist. It is sold as a research peptide or through compounding/regenerative clinics outside approved-drug pathways (practitioner consensus).
Is subcutaneous or oral Epithalon better?+
Subcutaneous injection is the established route. Animal efficacy data used parenteral dosing, e.g., 1 μg/mouse injected for 5 consecutive days monthly (animal). In-silico modeling shows AEDG can bind LAT1, LAT2, and PEPT1 transporters, implying possible oral cellular uptake, but no human pharmacokinetic data confirm meaningful oral bioavailability. Intranasal administration modulated rat neocortical neuron activity (animal) but remains experimental in humans. Community protocol: subcutaneous injection of 5–10 mg/day, typically in the evening (community protocol).
Can I use Epithalon while pregnant or breastfeeding?+
No. There are no human reproductive-safety data. Epithalon distributes to both maternal and fetal tissues in pregnant rabbits, including under placental insufficiency (animal). Given its telomerase- and circadian-gene-modulating activity, exposure during fetal development is unjustifiable. Avoid during pregnancy, lactation, and when actively trying to conceive (practitioner consensus).
How long can I take Epithalon?+
Community-standard course: 5–10 mg daily for 10–20 days, repeated every 3–6 months; 1–2 courses per year is typical (community protocol). Animal oncology studies used 5 consecutive days per month over months, with tumor-suppressive rather than tumor-promoting outcomes (animal). No human long-term safety data exist, so continuous open-ended use is not supported; intermittent, time-limited courses minimize unknown risks.
Does Epithalon actually lengthen telomeres?+
In human cell lines, yes: dose-dependent telomere extension via hTERT mRNA upregulation and telomerase activation in normal epithelial cells and fibroblasts (in vitro), consistent with earlier findings of telomerase induction in human somatic cells (in vitro). In ex-vivo human lymphocytes (11 men, 18–54 years), telomere length changed in 7 of 11 after AEDG exposure: increased in 5, decreased in 2, showing a normalization tendency toward the group mean rather than universal elongation. Net telomere lengthening in living humans remains unproven.
Could Epithalon promote cancer?+
Concern is theoretical, animal data are largely protective. In cancer cell lines, Epitalon extended telomeres via the ALT (Alternative Lengthening of Telomeres) pathway with only minor ALT activity in normal cells (in vitro), the theoretical basis for caution. In HER-2/neu transgenic mice, Epitalon reduced tumor number and size and cut HER-2/neu mRNA expression in tumors 3.7-fold (animal). No human oncologic safety data exist; practitioner consensus is that active malignancy remains a caution zone.
How does Epithalon compare to melatonin or other longevity peptides?+
Epitalon is not a melatonin substitute: it regulates the pineal gland's own melatonin synthesis via circadian clock genes (Cry2, CLOCK, Csnk1e) and raised urinary 6-sulfatoxymelatonin 1.7-fold in middle-aged humans (small human study, no control group). It matched melatonin's antioxidant potency in mouse oocytes at 0.1 mM, reducing ROS (reactive oxygen species) and spindle defects (animal/in vitro). Versus GHK-Cu or BPC-157, those target dermal extracellular matrix and tissue repair; Epitalon targets the pineal/circadian/telomere axis (review). Mechanisms are complementary, not interchangeable.
Does Epithalon need refrigeration?+
Yes (community protocol). Lyophilized (freeze-dried) vials should be stored refrigerated (2–8°C) or frozen; after reconstitution with bacteriostatic water, keep refrigerated and use within ~30 days. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Published physico-chemical stability characterization is limited; treat like other reconstituted peptides. No FDA-approved product exists, so vial contents and purity depend on supplier quality control, use third-party-tested sources (practitioner consensus).
