Try ChatPEP

Research only: what that means

Updated Oct 16, 2026 · Applies to Web, iPhone, and Android · All plans

ChatPEP is a research tool. It tells you what studies did and what they found, with sources you can check, and it never tells anyone what to take, how much, or how. That is what "For research only" means under the message box.

What you get

  • What was studied, and in whom. Answers say whether a finding comes from human trials or from animal and lab studies, and how strong the evidence is. Early or thin evidence is described as early or thin.
  • Sources you can check. Answers cite the studies and pages they draw on, so you can read the original. See Sources and citations.
  • Doses as studies used them. When a question is about amounts or schedules, ChatPEP reports what a trial or published protocol used and says where it came from. A schedule card is labeled Studied protocol and names its source. See Studied protocol cards, and what they are not.
  • Regulatory status. On Research and Frontier, a compound's summary card is marked FDA Approved only when the FDA has approved the compound for marketing. Everything else, including compounds still in clinical trials, is marked Research Only.

What ChatPEP does not do

  • Tell anyone what to take, how much, or when. Ask what dose to use and ChatPEP describes the doses studies used. It does not turn them into instructions for you.
  • Walk anyone through injecting or self-administering. For that, it says a qualified medical professional is the right person to ask, then carries on with the research question.
  • Diagnose, treat, or stand in for a clinician. See ChatPEP is not medical advice.

Where you see it

  • Under the message box, on the web, on iPhone, and on Android: "ChatPEP can make mistakes. Check important info. For research only."
  • Under cards, interaction warnings, and tables in an answer, on the web: "This information is for research only. Not intended for human use."
  • Under cards on iPhone and on Android: "Research summary, not a recommendation. Discuss anything you plan to do with a clinician."

The calculator

The reconstitution calculator works out concentration and volume from the numbers you enter. It does the arithmetic, and it does not choose an amount. See Use the reconstitution calculator.

Why ChatPEP works this way

What studies found is something ChatPEP can check and cite. What is right for one person depends on things it cannot see, like a full medical history or an exam. The terms of service say the same: content from ChatPEP "is for informational and research purposes only and is not intended to substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment."
