Try ChatPEP

Answers in your language

Updated Oct 16, 2026 · Applies to Web, iPhone, and Android · All plans

ChatPEP answers in the language you write your question in. Ask in Spanish and the answer comes back in Spanish; switch languages partway through a chat and ChatPEP switches with you. The Language setting does not change this: it sets the units your height and weight are shown in.

How it works

  • Write your question in any language. There is nothing to turn on.
  • Compound names and units stay as they appear in the research.
  • Citations open the original sources, which are usually in English.
  • If an answer comes back in a different language, ask ChatPEP to answer in yours.

What stays in English

  • Menus, buttons, and settings, on the web and in the iPhone and Android apps.
  • The suggested questions on the home screen.
  • Emails from ChatPEP, and this help center.

The Language setting

The Language setting lists languages and regions, such as English (US) and Spanish (Mexico). Today it decides one thing: how your measurements are shown. English (US) shows height and weight in feet and pounds, and every other choice shows them in metric. It does not change the language of answers or of the app.

On the web

  1. Select your name at the bottom of the sidebar, then select Settings.
  2. Select General.
  3. Choose from the Language menu.

On iPhone and on Android

  1. Open the menu and tap Settings.
  2. Under Personalization, tap Language.
  3. Tap a language and region.

See Appearance and language.

Dictating in another language

On the web, dictation listens in your browser's language. In the iPhone and Android apps, dictation listens in English (US), so type questions in other languages. See Dictate a question.
