Find, rename, and pin chats

ChatPEP names each chat after its first answer. The sidebar groups chats under Pinned, Today, Yesterday, Previous 7 Days, Previous 30 Days, and Older.

Temporary chats and archived chats are not listed. On Free, the sidebar shows recent titles faded out instead of a list. See Chat history and your plan.

Search matches chat titles, not the text inside a chat. Archived chats appear in the results too.

On the web

1. Select Search chats in the sidebar, or press Command+K on a Mac or Ctrl+K on Windows.
2. Type part of the title.
3. Select a result to open it.

On iPhone and on Android

1. Open the menu and tap Search chats at the top, next to the logo.
2. Type part of the title, then tap a result.

A clear title makes a chat easier to find later.

On the web

1. Point to the chat in the sidebar and select Chat options, the three dots at the end of its row. In an open chat, you can instead select More options at the top right.
2. Select Rename.
3. Type the new title and select Save.

On iPhone and on Android

1. Touch and hold the chat in the menu. In an open chat, you can instead tap More options at the top right.
2. Tap Rename.
3. Type the new title and tap OK.

On Android, touching and holding a chat opens a sheet from the bottom of the screen with the same choices, and Rename opens a dialog with the title in a text field.

Pinned chats stay under Pinned at the top of the sidebar, marked with a pin, however old they are.

On the web

Point to the chat in the sidebar, select Chat options, then select Pin. To undo it, select Unpin in the same menu.

On iPhone and on Android

Touch and hold the chat in the menu, or tap More options in an open chat, then tap Pin. To undo it, tap Unpin.
