Pulse check-ins
Updated Nov 5, 2026 · Applies to Web, iPhone, and Android · All plans
On Frontier, Pulse checks in when something in your stack reaches a moment worth a look: a cycle reaching its off days, a dose you changed, a long run, or something you logged. Each check-in opens a new chat that asks what the research says about where you are, and the answer is written when you open it, against your stack and log that day.
What Pulse checks in about
Pulse reads only what you saved in My Stack and logged on Today:
- A reaction you logged. A dose with How did it feel? filled in, within a few days of logging it.
- An item you stopped. In the few days after you set it to stopped.
- Missed entries. The last 3 or more entries for an item are still open, on an item you log. A skip marked Rest day counts as planned, not missed.
- A cycle reaching its off days. The day before an item's off days begin, or the first off day, when the item has days on and days off set.
- A dose change. 7 days after the amount you log for an item goes up or down.
- A long run. An item running with no cycle set, at week 6 from its start date, then every 12 weeks from week 12.
How often
At most one check-in a day and 2 in any seven days, each moment once. When more than one is due, a logged reaction comes first, then a stopped item, missed entries, a cycle, a dose change, and a long run. Check-ins arrive in the morning, when your quiet hours end.
Where they arrive
Push sends a check-in to your phone, or to a browser where notifications are on. Email sends it to your inbox, and is on unless you change it when no phone has ChatPEP's notifications on. A check-in names the item only when Show names in reminders is on.
Tapping a check-in, or See what the research says in the email, opens a new chat with the question already asked. The answer reads your stack, your log, and any reactions you logged, the way every answer does.
Turn check-ins off
On the web
Select your name at the bottom of the sidebar, select Settings, then select Notifications. Under Pulse, turn Push or Email off or on.
On iPhone and on Android
Open the menu, tap Settings, then tap Notifications. Under Pulse, turn Push or Email off or on.
What Pulse is not
A check-in states what you logged or set and asks about the research. It never suggests a dose, a taper, a schedule, or that you start or stop anything. See Research only: what that means.
