What ChatPEP stores, and for how long
Updated Oct 16, 2026 · Applies to Web, iPhone, and Android · All plans
ChatPEP keeps your account details, your profile, your chats, and the files you attach for as long as your account exists, and for 365 days after you delete it. Deleting a chat removes it from ChatPEP at once, with the few exceptions below.
What is stored
- Your account: your name, email address, date of birth, and profile photo.
- Your profile: the goals, health conditions, medications, experience level, height, weight, and language you have given ChatPEP, whether you asked it to check against alcohol, cannabis, or tobacco, and anything you save to My Stack.
- Your tracker: the schedule on each item in My Stack, every entry you log or skip on Today, your vials, and your journal entries: weight, how you felt, and notes. Reminders sent to your phone are recorded too, without the item's name unless you turned names on.
- Your chats: every message you send and every answer, including earlier versions of an answer you regenerated.
- Files you attach: the photos and documents you add to a message. See What happens to files you upload.
- Ratings: a thumbs up or down you give an answer, and any note you add.
- Billing: your plan and subscription status. Card details are held by the payment processor, never by ChatPEP.
- Usage: events such as pages viewed and buttons selected, with your approximate location and browser. See Cookies and analytics.
How long it is kept
- While your account exists, everything above is kept so ChatPEP can show your history and fit answers to you.
- Temporary chats are deleted 30 days after your last message in them.
- A chat you delete leaves your account at once and cannot be restored. ChatPEP keeps a copy of its text for safety review, and deletes any files attached to it within a day.
- Messages flagged by safety review are kept in a safety log so the team can review them.
- After you delete your account, everything above is kept for 365 days to meet legal and financial obligations, then deleted.
When you delete your account
Deleting your account closes it right away: you are signed out everywhere, your shared links stop working, reminders stop, and a subscription bought on the web is cancelled. Your profile, tracker, chats, uploads, and profile photo are kept for 365 days to meet legal and financial obligations, then deleted permanently. Usage events already recorded are kept, but the account they point to no longer exists. Delete your account walks through it.
