Change your plan
Updated Oct 16, 2026 · Applies to Web, iPhone, and Android · All plans
Open Settings, then Plan on the web or Subscription on iPhone and on Android. Under Plans, every plan above yours is listed with its monthly price: choose the one you want. On Free, you pay right there. If you already pay, the change happens wherever you are billed: on your billing page for a plan bought on the web, through the App Store for one bought on iPhone, or through Google Play for one bought on Android.
Upgrade from Free
On the web
- Select your name at the bottom of the sidebar, then select Settings.
- Select Plan. Under Plans, each paid plan shows its monthly price.
- Select the plan you want. The payment screen opens on that plan, billed monthly. To pay yearly instead, select All plans, choose Yearly, then select the plan's button, such as Upgrade to Research.
- Check the order summary. Due today is what you pay now.
- Pay with Apple Pay or Google Pay if your device offers them, or enter a card.
- Select Subscribe now.
When the payment goes through, the screen confirms your new plan and says your receipt is on its way by email. Your new plan applies as soon as the payment is confirmed: its message limit, its research features, and every chat you had before.
You can also start from Upgrade in your account menu, which opens the plans screen with Monthly and Yearly above the plans, or from the button on the panel that appears when you reach your message limit.
On iPhone
The iPhone app sells the paid plans through the App Store, billed to your Apple Account.
- Open the menu, tap the gear, then tap Subscription.
- Under Plans, tap the plan you want. Each row shows its monthly price. The plans screen opens on that plan.
- To compare, choose another plan at the top of the plans screen. Then choose Yearly or Monthly. Monthly is selected at first.
- Tap Upgrade to that plan. Apple confirms the purchase.
The panel that appears when you reach your message limit opens the same plans screen: its button opens the plan it offers, and See all plans opens the next plan up, with every plan a tap away. Your new plan applies as soon as Apple confirms it.
On Android
The Android app sells the paid plans through Google Play, billed to your Google Account.
Google Play confirms the purchase.
The panel that appears when you reach your message limit opens the same plans screen. Your new plan applies as soon as Google Play confirms it.
Move to a higher plan
On Basic or Research, Plans lists the plans above yours. On Frontier, there is no higher plan, so Plans does not appear.
On the web
A plan bought on the web changes on your billing page, which Stripe, ChatPEP's payment processor, runs for you.
- Select your name at the bottom of the sidebar, then select Settings.
- Select Plan.
- Under Plans, select the plan you want. Your billing page opens.
- Choose that plan on the billing page and confirm, then return to ChatPEP.
If your plan was bought on iPhone or Android, Plans on the web lists the higher plans but cannot change an App Store or Google Play subscription. Make the change in the app you bought it in, as below.
On iPhone
A plan bought through the App Store moves up from the same screen you bought it on.
- Open the menu, tap the gear, then tap Subscription.
- Under Plans, tap the plan you want. The plans screen opens on that plan.
- Choose Yearly or Monthly, then tap Upgrade to that plan and confirm with Apple.
Apple moves you to the higher plan right away and credits what is left of the one you were on. If your plan was bought on the web, the app lists the plans under Plans but does not sell them, so the App Store never bills you a second time. Move up on the web instead: sign in at chatpep.com, open Settings, select Plan, and follow the steps above.
On Android
A plan bought through Google Play moves up from the same screen you bought it on.
- Open the menu, tap the gear, then tap Subscription.
- Under Plans, tap the plan you want. The plans screen opens on that plan.
- Choose Yearly or Monthly, then tap Upgrade to that plan and confirm with Google Play.
Google Play moves you to the higher plan right away and credits what is left of the one you were on. A plan bought on the web, or on iPhone, is listed under Plans but not sold, so you are never billed twice. Move up where you bought it.
Your account moves to the new plan as soon as the change is confirmed. Your plan belongs to your account, so a change made in one place applies everywhere you sign in. If your account menu still shows the old plan a few minutes later, contact support with the topic Plans and billing.
Move to a lower plan
On the web, open Settings, select Plan, then select Manage and choose the lower plan on your billing page. A plan bought through the App Store moves down in your iPhone's Settings: tap your name, tap Subscriptions, tap ChatPEP, then choose the plan. See Subscriptions bought on iPhone.
Google Play cannot move a plan down. To move to a lower plan bought on Android, cancel it in the Google Play app, then buy the lower plan in the app once your current one ends. See Subscriptions bought on Android.
Switch between monthly and yearly billing
On the web, open your billing page from Manage, as above, and change how often your plan is billed there. Yearly billing costs about 16% less than paying monthly for a year.
A plan bought through the App Store switches in your iPhone's Settings: tap your name, tap Subscriptions, tap ChatPEP, then choose the option you want. See Subscriptions bought on iPhone.
A plan bought through Google Play cannot switch billing in place. Cancel it in the Google Play app, then buy it again with the billing you want once the current period ends.
Move to Free
Moving to Free means cancelling your subscription. You keep your paid plan until the end of the month or year you paid for. See Manage or cancel a subscription.
