Manage or cancel a subscription
Updated Oct 16, 2026 · Applies to Web, iPhone, and Android · Basic, Research, and Frontier plans
On the web, open Settings, select Plan, then select Manage. That opens your billing page, where you can cancel. Cancelling stops the next renewal, and you keep your plan until the end of the period you already paid for.
Cancel on the web
- Select your name at the bottom of the sidebar, then select Settings.
- Select Plan.
- Under Current plan, select Manage.
- Your billing page opens. It is run by Stripe, ChatPEP's payment processor. Cancel your subscription there.
Manage only appears on a paid plan bought on the web. On Free, there is nothing to cancel. A plan bought through the App Store says Billed by Apple instead, and you cancel it in your iPhone's Settings. A plan bought through Google Play says Billed by Google Play, and you cancel it in the Google Play app. Both are described below.
What happens after you cancel
- You are not charged again.
- You keep your plan and its message limit until the end of the period you paid for.
- When that period ends, your account moves to Free.
- Nothing is deleted. Your chats, profile, and My Stack stay in your account. On Free, you can open your most recent chat, and earlier chats appear again if you upgrade later. See Chat history and your plan.
To keep your plan after all, open Manage again before the period ends.
On iPhone
Tap the gear in the menu, then tap Subscription. What you see depends on who bills you:
- Bought through the App Store: tap Manage subscription. Your iPhone's subscription settings open, where you can change or cancel. Apple bills you, so see Subscriptions bought on iPhone.
- Bought on the web: the screen shows your plan and says it is managed on the web. Sign in to ChatPEP in a browser with the same account and follow the steps above.
- Bought on Android: the screen says it was bought through Google Play, and that changes to it happen in the ChatPEP Android app.
On Android
Tap the gear in the menu, then tap Subscription. What you see depends on who bills you:
- Bought through Google Play: tap Manage subscription. Your subscriptions in Google Play open, where you can cancel. Google Play bills you, so see Subscriptions bought on Android.
- Bought on the web: the screen shows your plan and says it is managed on the web. Sign in to ChatPEP in a browser with the same account and follow the steps above.
- Bought on iPhone: the screen says it was bought through the App Store, and that changes to it happen in the ChatPEP iPhone app.
Deleting your account
Deleting your account cancels a subscription bought on the web at once, rather than at the end of the period. A subscription bought through the App Store or Google Play is not cancelled by deleting your account: cancel it in your iPhone's Settings, or in the Google Play app, as well. See Delete your account.
Refunds
Cancelling does not refund the current period. See Refunds for how refund requests are reviewed.
