Manage or cancel a subscription
Updated Oct 30, 2026 · Applies to Web, iPhone, and Android · Basic, Research, and Frontier plans
You can cancel from Settings on the web, on iPhone, and on Android. On the web, select Plan, then Cancel plan. On iPhone and on Android, tap Subscription, then Cancel subscription, and finish in Apple's or Google Play's subscription settings. Cancelling stops the next renewal, and you keep your plan until the end of the period you already paid for.
Cancel your plan
Cancelling takes two steps. The first asks for your main reason. The second shows a one-time offer if you have one, or otherwise what you keep and until when. You can skip the question. The cancel button sits right beside the offer, so cancelling is always one tap away.
On the web
- Select your name at the bottom of the sidebar, then select Settings.
- Select Plan.
- Under Current plan, select Cancel plan.
- Before you go asks for your main reason: It costs too much, I'm not using it enough, The answers weren't what I needed, I'm done with my research for now, or Something else. You can add a line under Anything else?. Then select Continue, or Skip to go on without answering.
- The next step shows the offer, or what you keep. Select Cancel plan.
On that step, selecting Cancel plan cancels right away. It only appears on a paid plan bought on the web. On Free, there is nothing to cancel. A plan bought through the App Store or Google Play says who bills it, and you cancel it in the app you bought it in.
On iPhone and on Android
- Open the menu, tap the gear, then tap Subscription.
- Tap Cancel subscription, beneath Manage subscription.
- Choose your main reason, add a line if you like, then tap Continue. Or tap Skip.
- The next step shows the offer, or what you keep. Tap Cancel subscription.
- Your phone's subscription settings open: Apple's on iPhone, Google Play's on Android. Finish cancelling there.
Apple and Google Play bill a plan bought in the app, so the cancel always finishes in their settings. If you leave without confirming there, your plan keeps renewing.
Cancel subscription appears for a plan bought through the store on that phone. For a plan bought somewhere else, the screen says where it was bought:
- Bought on the web: the screen says changes to it happen at chatpep.com. Tap Manage on the web, or sign in to ChatPEP in a browser with the same account, and follow the steps above.
- Bought on the other phone: the screen says it was bought through the App Store or Google Play, and that changes to it happen in the ChatPEP app for that phone.
The one-time offer
If you pay monthly, the second step may offer 50% off your next month. On the web, it may offer your next month free instead. The offer appears once for each subscription. After you have used it, the second step shows what you keep instead.
- After the discounted or free month, your plan renews at its regular price, and you can cancel at any time.
- On the web, accepting applies the offer at once and keeps your plan renewing. On iPhone and on Android, you accept it through Apple's or Google Play's own confirmation sheet.
- On yearly billing, during a free trial, or while a failed payment is being retried, there is no offer. The second step says which plan you keep and until when.
If you cancel without using the offer, it stays open until your plan ends, and an email after you cancel links back to it. On iPhone and on Android, you find it under Settings > Subscription.
What happens after you cancel
- You are not charged again.
- You keep your plan and its message limit until the end of the period you paid for.
- When that period ends, your account moves to Free.
- Nothing is deleted. Your chats, profile, and My Stack stay in your account. On Free, you can open your most recent chat, and earlier chats appear again if you upgrade later. See Chat history and your plan.
On the web
Under Current plan, your plan shows the day it ends, with a Resubscribe button. Select it before that day to keep your plan renewing.
On iPhone and on Android
Subscription shows the day your plan ends. To keep it after all, tap Manage subscription and turn the renewal back on in Apple's or Google Play's subscription settings.
Deleting your account
Deleting your account cancels a subscription bought on the web at once, rather than at the end of the period. A subscription bought through the App Store or Google Play is not cancelled by deleting your account: cancel it from Cancel subscription first, or in your iPhone's Settings or the Google Play app. See Delete your account.
Refunds
Cancelling does not refund the current period. See Refunds for how refund requests are reviewed.
