A charge you do not recognize
Updated Oct 16, 2026 · Applies to Web, iPhone, and Android · All plans
On the web, ChatPEP bills monthly or yearly through Stripe, its payment processor. A plan bought in the iPhone app is billed by Apple instead, and one bought in the Android app is billed through Google Play. If you see a charge you do not recognize, check whether you or someone with access to your card has a ChatPEP subscription, then contact support with the date, the amount, and the last four digits of the card.
Common reasons for a charge
- A renewal. A plan renews at the end of each billing period until it is cancelled: every month on monthly billing, and once a year on yearly billing.
- A charge from Apple. A plan bought in the iPhone app is billed by Apple and appears on your statement as an App Store purchase. See Subscriptions bought on iPhone.
- A charge from Google. A plan bought in the Android app is billed through Google Play and appears on your statement as a Google Play purchase. See Subscriptions bought on Android.
- An offer that ended. Some partner offers last a set number of months, then the plan renews at its regular price. The checkout states both amounts.
- A second account. Each email address is its own ChatPEP account, with its own plan. If you signed in once with Google and once with a different email address, each account can hold a subscription.
- Someone else. A person in your household may have subscribed with your card.
ChatPEP is operated by Footnote Technologies LLC, the company named in the terms of service.
Check your account
- Sign in to ChatPEP on the web.
- Select your name at the bottom of the sidebar. Your plan is shown under your name.
- If you are on a paid plan bought on the web, select Settings, then Plan, then Manage to see your billing page and past invoices.
You can also search your email for a receipt from ChatPEP, and check which of your email addresses it was sent to.
