What ChatPEP knows about you, and how it shapes answers
Updated Oct 16, 2026 · Applies to Web, iPhone, and Android · All plans
ChatPEP fits its answers to you using your first name, your age, the details in your profile, your experience level, the items in My Stack, and your approximate location. You can see and change almost all of it in Settings and My Stack.
What ChatPEP uses
- Your first name, from your account.
- Your age, worked out from the date of birth you gave when you signed up.
- Your height and weight, when both are set.
- Your goals: a primary goal and up to two more. When a question could go several ways, answers lean toward your primary goal.
- Your medical conditions and current medications. Answers take them into account, and interaction warnings check them.
- Also check against: alcohol, cannabis, and tobacco, each a switch. Turn one on and interaction warnings include it. All three are off until you turn them on.
- Your experience level, which sets how technical answers get. See Experience level.
- My Stack: the items under Running, Planned, and Paused. Items under Stopped are not used. See Save what you are researching in My Stack.
- Your approximate location: the city, region, and country your connection comes from, worked out each time you send a message. It is not a setting.
- The chat you are in. ChatPEP does not read your other chats when it answers. What carries over from one chat to the next is your profile and My Stack.
These details are background. ChatPEP uses them to judge what is relevant and how to pitch an answer, and it is designed not to repeat them back unless they matter to your question.
What it does not use
- Biological sex is saved with your profile, but answers do not use it today.
- Language only sets the units your height and weight are shown in. ChatPEP answers in the language you write in. See Appearance and language.
- Your other chats, as above.

The chat can update it for you
When you tell ChatPEP in a chat that a condition, medication, or goal applies to you, that you drink, smoke, or use cannabis, or that you have started or stopped a compound, it can save that for you. A line above the answer says what changed, with an Undo button. See How ChatPEP updates your profile from a chat.
In a temporary chat
Of the details above, answers in a temporary chat use only your first name, your approximate location, and the chat itself. They do not use your profile or My Stack, and nothing said there is saved to them. Interaction warnings still check the conditions, medications, substances, and My Stack items you have saved. See Temporary chats.
What stays private
A shared link holds only the chat's messages, never your profile or My Stack. Both are deleted 365 days after you delete your account. Tailored answers are still research, not medical advice. See ChatPEP is not medical advice.
